What is Hyaluronidase?

Hyaluronidase is a family of enzymes that when precisely injected into areas treated with Hyaluronic Acid (Dermal Fillers) act as a dispersion agent which degrades and vastly speeds up the natural breakdown of the dermal fillers. Hyaluronidase is a prescription only medication.

When is Hyaluronidase used?

Hyaluronidase can be used correct over filled areas, asymmetrical results, lumps and other undesired results from dermal filler treatments. In very rare extreme cases when HA fillers have been injected directly into an artery or vein which can lead to a blockage of the artery/vein preventing blood supply to the surrounding tissue which if not treated can result in necrosis.

How Soon Will I See the Results?

Hyaluronidase acts very quickly once injected and visible results can be seen instantly with final results normally within a 24-hour period.

What are the risk and side effects?

Occasionally slight bruising may appear at the injection site but this will soon fade and can be covered with make-up. In rare cases a client could suffer an allergic reaction to the hyaluronidase which is why at Features Aesthetics before any administration of Hyaluronidase a 24-hour test patch will be required with an initial 30-minute observation by our practitioner.

How Long is the down time after treatment?

Clients are advised to refrain from any strenuous physical activities for 48 hours.
